Drive Toward a Cure
Through our ‘Special Assistance Fund', we immediately re-instate our former California Wildfire Grant Fund – allowing us to both GIVE and RECEIVE…
And, with a bit of your support, you can #helpushelpothers in the wake of the devastation of the current Southern California Firestorm – and we can help those who need empathetic AND physical help. Our goal is to reach those living with Parkinson’s who are in the communities hit the hardest and find ways to support them, so these unexpected challenges can be uplifted, helping to minimize anxiety and the difficult road ahead.
We have spoken to various local centers including:
- The Ciela Parkinson’s Program in the Pacific Palisades Highlands – a full care facility that enriches the lives of its residents living with Parkinson’s through programs within their Vitality Center that include health and wellness and classes to boost mobility – and though thankfully all residents and caregivers were safely evacuated – it will be key to get these challenged individuals back into some normalcy and return to these programs
- The Parkinson's Community Los Angeles (PCLA) -- a local resource that connects, inspires, and educates those living with Parkinson's disease in Southern California - currently, they are engaging with community members who have lost their homes in both the Pacific Palisades and Altadena areas and are preparing 'Go Fund Me' pages to support their needs -- we would like to contribute and help where we can
- Keck Medicine of USC -- a Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence with expertise in diagnosing and treating Parkinson's disease and movement disorders, and as part of their commitment to patient care, have one of the foremost mental health and behavioral health services (PBHS) with clinics providing support to manage anxiety, depression, compassionate care, and trauma therapy
Our own 'Special Assistance' grant fund was established in 2018 following the disastrous Paradise Fires in Northern California and since has grown to aid Parkinson's patients impacted by hurricanes, tornadoes, and other catastrophic situations and -- WITH YOUR HELP -- can exponentially grow to help those that can't help themselves and need support during these crises.
Your help can make a difference -- every dollar counts and supports those in need NOW -- furthering our mission of Patient Care!
