THE DRIVE TOWARD A CURE ’75 DAYS OF SUMMER’ PROGRAM –
MAKE EVERY MILE COUNT FOR PARKINSON’S DISEASE
Prizes, Rewards, and Cars and Camaraderie Can be Yours – Just Register, AND DRIVE!
LOS ANGELES, CA – April 22, 2021 – For the 2nd year in a row, non-profit Drive Toward a Cure will be ‘Fueled by Hagerty’ while raising funds for Parkinson’s AND encouraging enthusiasts to simply ‘get out and drive!’ The foundation’s ’75 Days of Summer’ program officially begins on the first day of Summer, June 20th, and lasts through Labor Day Weekend – but early registration is already heating up. The premise is to motivate motorists nationwide to enjoy summertime drives near or far, piling on the miles to win prizes and share their experiences socially, all the while benefitting Parkinson’s disease.
According to Deb Pollack, founder of Drive Toward a Cure, there is nothing more enticing and inspiring than the open road – wherever you are, and wherever you want to be. “We started this individual, yet interactive fundraising endeavor last year when most gatherings were paused,” said Pollack. “The response was so strong, and so many enjoyed sharing their cars, photos, and wonderful scenic drives, that we decided to make this an annual effort, ensuring we continue to spread the word on ‘cars and camaraderie’ and supporting our mission for Parkinson’s.”
For a minimal $20 registration fee, entrants will be eligible for weekly random drawings with prizes including gift cards worth $100+, autographed books, racing shoes and apparel, limited edition posters and artwork, and more. Each Instagram post an entrant creates – showcasing a Drive Toward a Cure window cling in the windshield — earns additional weekly prize draw entries. Additionally, entrants are encouraged to create their own fundraising page, complete with a photo of their car. With the first $100 raised by any entrant, Mothers Polish will provide $150 worth of car detail products from their all-new ‘Ultimate Hybrid’ product line!
The first 50 registrants to enter at www.drivetowardacure.org/summer and create their own fundraising page will receive an authentic Maserati baseball cap plus goodie bag from Drive Toward a Cure.
Top prizes include a certificate for four (4) Michelin tires, valued at $2,000; 1-day Driver’s School at the BMW Performance Driving Center, valued at $849; a jacket and shoes bundle from GrandPrix Originals USA valued at $400; and a $250 gift certificate for DriveShare by Hagerty.
Throughout the program as entrants raise funds, rewards of Drive Toward a Cure apparel and other items will be earned at various donation levels. Initial registration is $20, with the ability to make one’s own additional donation, have individual or corporate sponsors, or to bring friends together safely for group drives.
As a fun driving alternative, and thanks to our partner DriveShare by Hagerty, should an entrant choose to drive something other than their own registered vehicle, they can easily find a collectible or special-interest vehicle and include the mileage in their own program at no additional registration fee. Sign up to rent a car in your area at www.driveshare.com and be sure to apply code DTAC2021 to receive a 10% discount. Additionally, Drive Toward a Cure will receive DriveShare’s percentage of the total fees.
Hagerty has teamed with Drive Toward a Cure since the organization’s inception in 2016 when the foundation first began blending cars and camaraderie to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s disease. With more than $500,000 raised since 2016, Drive Toward a Cure supports both Parkinson’s research AND patient care, fundraising through events and annual rallies enjoyed by the automotive enthusiast community at large.
Drive Toward a Cure ended 2020 with contributions making an impact of $160,000, and for 2021 the organization continues engaging localized groups and supporters to benefit various Parkinson’s Foundation Centers of Excellence on a national level through Drive Toward a Cure’s ‘Access to Care’ program. Current alignments support Centers in Portland, Atlanta, San Diego, Phoenix, Houston, Boston, New York City, and Nashville.
About Drive Toward a Cure
Drive Toward a Cure raises funds and awareness for Parkinson’s Disease research and patient care. Inspired by the camaraderie found within the automotive culture, the organization’s mission benefits equally from both enthusiast communities and industry professionals. Drive Toward a Cure events harness enthusiasm for cars and driving and turn that power into support for ongoing work to improve the lives of those living with Parkinson’s, as well as the research that will hopefully one day lead to a cure. Since 2016, Drive Toward a Cure has raised more than a half million dollars to support BOTH research AND patient care.
Drive Toward a Cure is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that supports beneficiaries including The Michael J. Fox Foundation, the Parkinson’s Foundation and numerous Centers of Excellence for Parkinsons. For donations, sponsorship and event registration please visit www.drivetowardacure.org.
About Parkinson’s Disease
Affecting nearly one million Americans and 10 million worldwide, Parkinson’s disease is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s and is the 14th-leading cause of death in the United States. It is associated with a progressive loss of motor control (e.g., shaking or tremor at rest and lack of facial expression), as well as non-motor symptoms (e.g., depression and anxiety). There is no cure for Parkinson’s and 60,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the United States alone.
