DRIVE TOWARD A CURE CHARITY RALLY BOOSTS ITS #2DRIVES1CAUSE OFFERING
ADDING 1-DAY PASO ROBLES OPTION FOR CENTRAL COAST LOCALS
‘California Adventure’ Proves that Driving Has Never Meant More – Scenic Rally Events Support Parkinson’s
LOS ANGELES – March 7, 2017 – The inaugural Drive Toward a Cure (www.drivetowardacure.org ) April 28-30th lifestyle/rally event supporting Parkinson’s Disease research and patient care began as its own ‘California Adventure’, with two simultaneous spirited drives along portions of the most scenic and challenging driving roads in both northern and southern California culminating with an all-inclusive weekend of continued drives and luxury receptions within the Paso Robles area. Its early registration success has spread throughout the western region and the organization has now added a 1-day Paso Robles excursion for Central Coast targeted at locals or those with a lower mileage or cost threshold.
Current enrollment in the April 28-30 event includes a mix of modern exotics and vintage sports and luxury cars, ranging from a pair of Porsche 356 Super 90s, a 1960 Bentley Continental, and a 1961 Maserati 3500 GT, to a Viper GTS, Porsche 991 GT3, Ferrari 458 and 488 Spiders, and the new 2017 Acura NSX.
Those participating in the larger 3-day program will gain unparalleled viewing access to some of the world’s most prized car collections on Friday morning, including the Blackhawk and Petersen Museums, and rare visits to the ultra-private John Mozart Collection and the famed Mullin Museum. They will continue on to a weekend of luxury receptions, wine tasting and friendly driving competition within the Paso Robles wine region.
Throughout the weekend, participants will follow a thoughtfully planned route through beautiful California backroads and byways, while those attending Friday’s drive will have the chance to take part in the organization’s signature ‘special stage’ driving tests, providing an opportunity to have fun, explore their car’s limits and indulge in a bit of competition within a controlled, safe environment.
Local aficionados anxious to partake in Saturday’s program will join the entire group to enjoy a full day of driving, relaxation, wine tasting, camaraderie, great food, and great roads. The 1-day program will kick off with breakfast at the Allegretto Vineyard Resort (event hotel), includes lunch at a local Paso Robles favorite French bistro, and concludes with reception and dinner at a local vineyard. Deb Pollack, founder of Drive Toward a Cure, has been a car fan by nature and a brand champion by trade within the luxury automotive realm for many years – and at the same time she contends that her heart remains philanthropic – so it seemed only fitting to align this type of cause-related effort within an industry of car aficionados.
“Since losing my mom 10 years ago, it’s been a vision of mine to team cars and camaraderie, opening channels within the automotive industry and among car lovers to support the challenges of Parkinson’s Disease.” In addition, Pollack notes that far too many of our legendary gentleman drivers have become examples for our cause,” as she refers to America’s first Formula One champion Phil Hill, as well as racers David Love and Sam Posey – and many in between who have suffered from Parkinson’s.
Drive Toward a Cure benefits the globally-renowned Michael J. Fox Foundation as well as The Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center in Sunnyvale, Calif.
Registration for the April event is open at www.drivetowardacure.org , with plans for additional fundraising drive programs to be scheduled in the United States and Europe later during 2017 and 2018. Donations can be made online as well as sponsorship opportunities. All donations of $500 or more gain recognition as a “Friend of Drive Toward a Cure,” entitling each such donor to have their name or logo and URL on the website for one year.
Current Drive Toward a Cure sponsors, partners, Friends and supporters include Hagerty, BRM Chronographs, Alliant, Ed Pink Racing Engines, Blackhawk Museum, Petersen Museum, Sports Car Market Magazine, CarsYeah!, DriveShop, Newspress USA, Katzkin Leather, 000 Magazine, RSR Wheels, Intelliga Communications, Ferrari Club of America (both the Southwest Region and the Pacific Region) and The Event Designs Company (formerly known as Rally Race). About Drive Toward a Cure:
The Drive Toward a Cure program pursues an alternative to the numerous ‘for profit’ rally driving programs through the creation of events that team cars and camaraderie to raise funds in support of the challenges of Parkinson’s Disease, benefiting research and patient care. The premiere California Adventure event has been carefully designed to provide a premium experience while raising much-needed funds to continue the search for a cure. Our beneficiaries are The Michael J. Fox Foundation and The Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center. For donations, sponsorship and event registration, please visit www.drivetowardacure.org.
About Parkinson’s Disease:
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic and progressive movement disorder, meaning that physical symptoms continue and worsen over time. Nearly one million people in the US are living with Parkinson’s disease. The cause is unknown, and although there is presently no cure, there are treatment options such as medication and surgery to manage its symptoms.
